After powering up my phone, I get a message that says "Insert SIM Card." What should I do?

Your GSM phone comes with a SIM Card. You must insert the SIM Card into the back of the phone before you can use your phone. Check your owner's manual for the proper method of inserting the SIM Card. Many makes and models have different methods of installation.

How do I find my phone's Model Number and IMEI?

The Model Number is located under the battery (and memory card in some phones). The IMEI is typically located under the battery of the phone (in some phones it may be located outside of the battery bay).

Can I dial numbers with the Automatic Keyguard On?

No. Please keep in mind the following steps concerning Automatic Keyguard:


When phone is on, calls may be possible to the emergency number programmed in your phone (such as 911 or other emergency numbers). Key in the emergency number and press the send key. The number is displayed only after you have keyed in its last digit.


To access Automatic Keyguard, press Menu and select Settings, Phone Settings, and Automatic Keyguard.


To activate Automatic Keyguard, select On. The phone displays Set Delay. Key in the delay time (10 seconds to 60 minutes) and press OK.


To deactivate the Automatic Keyguard, follow the steps above to navigate to the Automatic Keyguard setting on you phone. Select Off.

Can I use the Restrictive Dialing feature?

Restrictive Dialing will be a future enhancement to the i-wireless GSM Network. This is a network enabled feature that allows you to restrict calls your phone can make and receive. Check this website for future updates on this service.

i-wireless is currently working on the Fixed Dialing Number feature set as a future upgrade. It is not available at this time.

How do I clear the cache on my phone?

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Services.
  3. After a brief pause, a list of options appear in the display OR if browsing, press Options.
  4. Scroll to Clear the Cache and press Select.

How do I check my phone's memory status?

For Nokia phones:

  1. Press Contacts.
  2. Scroll to Settings and press Select.
  3. Scroll to Memory Status and press Select.
  4. Scroll to Phone or SIM Card and press Select.
  5. The memory status for your selection is displayed.

How do I reset my voicemail or retrieve my PUK codes?

Need to reset your voicemail? i-wireless has made it easier, simply dial 611 from your i-wireless phone or call 1-888-248-1642. Press option 3 to reset your voicemail.

How do I change my phone number and is there a fee for doing so?

Effective April 1, 2007, i-wireless customers can now change their phone number for a one-time fee of $5.00*. Your account must have an active balance of at least $5. To change your phone number, contact us at 888-248-1642.
